Context: The Compliance department helps ensuring a safe business development and operating environment, with respect to banking / financial & spot commodities market regulations, thereby preserving business continuity and mitigating reputational risk. Compliance plays the role of the 2nd line of defense in the Compliance framework and reports to a GEM Executive Committee member (also Head of Legal & Regulation). Goals of the job: Ensure a sound and robust compliance culture within GEM in the scope of European regulation and market rules. Support the first line of defense of the Compliance with operational guidance and valueadded solutions. Develop a transversal riskedbased framework in cooperation with the first line of defense to focus on major risks. Perform an efficient riskmonitoring program. Report results, action plans and followup to Top Management. Maintain compliance with regulation as appropriate. Understand and monitor activities to ensure their Compliance with regulation and best practices, focusing on physical related energy businesses (power, gas, LNG) Develop synergies between 1st and 2nd line of defense to enhance efficiency of the Compliance monitoring framework Challenge policies, procedures & Compliance control framework Participate to Compliance controls program performance, monitor activity, analyze and escalate alerts Perform Compliance risk review jointly with the 1st line of defense, including implementation and followup of action plans Participate to the Compliance risk cartography and Control framework review and update Report to Top Management and regulators on the Compliance riskmonitoring program Participate to projects in the Compliance framework Lead the Compliance answers to regulator and market inquiries related to physical activities - Master degree in Law, Finance or Compliance - Compliance experience in a similar function. - Experience with physical operational activities scheme is an added value (energy house, regulators, ...). - Experience of European physical regulation or financial regulation is an advantage. - IT skills : good knowledge of MS Office tools, digital native - Analytical skills - Good verbal and written communication , assertiveness - Curiosity, openmindedness and eagerness to learn about changing regulation and business evolutions - Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment - Business orientation, capacity to find pragmatic solutions in compliance with laws and regulation - Reliability, ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines - Strong work ethics, scrutiny & risk awareness Languages : - Fluent in English. - Good command of Dutch with excellent reading and listening skills are required for this role. - French is an advantage.
